The first year of school is so important and we understand that every parent wants only the best for their child. At Christway College, we offer a Christ-centred curriculum, focused on developing students academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.

In The Classroom

From day one, our committed and caring staff will make you and your child feel right at home as we partner with you on their journey of discovery.

Priority is given to literacy and numeracy development, as these are the foundations upon which further learning is built, with students encouraged to learn through play, investigations, questioning, hands-on approaches and from their peers.

A typical prep day begins at 8.45am, when the children come together for a morning activity such as a class devotion, physical activity session, formal assembly or worship time (singing and dancing). After these activities, the Literacy lessons commence and are then broken up by a brief ‘brain food’ break to keep young minds fuelled and alert. 

After further literacy learning students eat morning recess food inside and then move outside to play on the playground and ovals, in the sandpits or with our interactive mud kitchen complete with plates, cups and utensils. All play time is closely supervised by caring staff who can attend to social, emotional and first aid needs.

Educating The Whole Child

Through our strategic programs and learning opportunities, we want our students to grow in line with our “Five foundations of a Whole Child”. That is for them to grow spiritually, emotionally, academically, physically and socially. This will be enhanced as they strive for excellence to develop and use their God given passions and talents.

Prep Orientation

In Term 4, students commencing Prep the following year participate in a few orientation sessions.

The focus of the first session is to familiarise students with the school environment and observe student learning and interaction. The focus of the second and third sessions is to establish literacy and numeracy skill levels which will guide future teaching and class placement.
